Keep your wipers from freezing to the windshield

Before a snowstorm, lift the wipers or cover the blades so they don't freeze to the glass.

1Before snow or freezing rain, gently pull each wiper arm up so it stands away from the glass.
2Or leave them down and slip an old sock over each rubber blade.
3In the morning, brush and scrape the windshield clear.
4Lower the wipers slowly back onto the glass. Don't let them snap down.
5Never run the wipers while they're frozen to the glass.

Good to knowExperts disagree on lifting: in strong wind a raised wiper can snap back onto the glass. If it's very windy, use the sock method instead.
